Hilary Pfeifer

Hilary Pfeifer gave an excellent talk about her art - the process,
some of the history, the thoughts behind the installations and titles,
the music accompanying some of them (created by her partner Heather
Perkins), and some of her current and future work.

Interesting Turrell interview

Good afternoon everyone:
Here's an excerpt from a PBS interview with James Turrell, the artist working on Roden Crater. He talks about his philosophy behind the use of light as art form. Apparently, Roden Crater is supposed to be nearing completion; the website is still under construction, though.

Central Europe 2005

Hello docents,

I spoke to Tara about a course that I do every summer for Seattle
Pacific University. She gave me permission to tell you all about the
trip. It is a "hands on" art history course for teachers. I always
have other participants that come from a variety of fields. I thought
some of you might be interested. I put a flyer by the docent desk for
your information. This is a 12 day trip departing Aug. 4th, 2005 that
travels to Salzburg, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, and Munich. The cost of
the trip if you enroll by 8/31/04 is $3,369, plus a $60 tip for the bus
driver and courier. You can lock in this price with a $95
non-refundable deposit. The itinerary is organized by the American
Council of International studies. The cost of the trip includes, round
trip air fare, 3 to 4 star hotels, all ground transportation, two meals
a day, entrance into some museums or castles. If you are interested
you can e-mail me and I would be happy to give you a detailed itinerary
or answer any questions.

Warmest Regards,
Nancy Harris - keckpaint@centurytel.net

Sorry + Fixed Out-of-Office loop from Penny Hulse

Hello Fellow Docents

Sorry about the multiple messages that Penny Hulse's email system delivered.

Most systems do that only one time - but her office/domain/email
system is not setup like that.

I have fixed the problem. Won't happen again.

But it means - when you reply to a mailing list message - the reply
won't be going to the entire group - the Reply-To will (by default)
have the message author's name. If you want your reply to go to the
entire group, please use tamdocents@googlegroups.com

Fw: TAM Events - Today's Brianstorming Session Ideas List

Put this date into your calendars for fall. We will include spouses and
children so it can be a family event on a Sunday. More plans later.

training this week

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to remind everyone that we ARE meeting for training this Wednesday, 6/23, or next Monday, 6/28. This will be two weeks of training in a row rather than our usual every-other-week schedule (primarily because we had to fit the Goldsworthy training in as close to the opening as possible).

This week we will be our disability awareness workshop that I am presenting along with a special guest, Jackie Whorton. This training is mandatory (unless you have already been in touch with me about a scheduling conflict).

Also, I will be out of the office this Thursday and Friday, June 24 and 25, at a “Learning in Museums” seminar in
Boston, focusing on adult learning. As always, if you need anything while I’m out, please contact Anna Castillo, Curator of Education, at acastillo@tacomaartmuseum.org or (253) 272-4258 ext. 3026.

Thanks

Tara
