Reminder: Tour Signage Stanchion

The stanchion can be found in the coat closet by the bathrooms or in the Event Space closet (which is locked).

The paper signs announcing tours can be found in a folder at the front desk.

If you can’t find the stanchion or the signs, please ask Visitor Services.

If you want to advertise your tour(s):

  • Place the appropriate sign in the stanchion and carry the stanchion to the appropriate gallery or leave it by the front desk.
(The stanchion is a little heavy, if you can’t manage it, please ask Visitor Services to help you.)
  • We don’t want the stanchion loitering around the museum and confusing visitors, so please place it out no more than 2 hours before your tour time, and remove it when the tour is finished.
  • Make sure that Visitor Services at the front desk and the Greeter knows about your upcoming tour so they can tell in-coming visitors all about it.

The field trip will involve:

anyone interested in car-pooling for half the Docent Trip on May 6?

Nancy Harris would like to attend the Docent Trip on Saturday, May 6 but she needs to be back home in Gig Harbor by 4:00 pm.

If anyone else is interested in car-pooling with Nancy and only doing the first half of the trip (the Western Washington University Outdoor Sculpture Collection tour and possibly lunch), please email me and Nancy (keckpaint@centurytel.net).

Heidi,

I would love to come. However, I need to be back to Gig Harbor by 4:00 PM. Do you know if anyone else needs to be back earlier? Maybe I could car pool with them and just go to the Western Washington University Outdoor Sculpture Collection and then have lunch.

Thanks, Nancy

Docent Needed: Saturday, May 6

Can anyone do a docent shift (or trade a shift) on Saturday, May 6 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm? (or 4 hours later in the day)

This shift does include tours at 11 am and 1 pm, as advertised.

This is the day on which we are doing the Docent Trip to the Western Washington University Outdoor Sculpture Collection and the Museum of Northwest Art. Barbara Reisman and Debora Kernan are scheduled to docent on that day, but they would both lie to go on the Docent Trip.

This date is close to the end of The Great American Thing, so it is important that we try to have docents available for all shifts.

We don’t expect you to be in the galleries, on your feet, for the entire four hours! Please feel free to take a break whenever and wherever you need it – in the ARC, the Untitled Café, the Museum Store, or outside the museum. Just let Visitor Services know where you are, and they will find you if someone requests a docent.

And I will always contact you if there is a tour or other event for which you are needed at a specific time. Otherwise, it is completely up to you to decide when you are most needed and how long you can manage in the galleries.

Please reply only if you are available, and I will confirm whether or not you are needed.

Thanks for your time!

ARE YOU COMING? -- Docent Field Trip: Saturday, May 6

Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in taking part in the day trip on Saturday, May 6, 2006 to the Western Washington University Outdoor Sculpture Collection in Bellingham and the Museum of Northwest Art in La Conner.

If there isn’t enough interest by docents to fill the majority of the bus, then we would like to scale down to a smaller bus. Right now, we have booked a bus that seats 47 passengers. So far, only 10 people have signed up for the trip.

If you are interested in the trip, please let me know by this Friday, April 21 at which point we will be considering whether or not to down-size the bus.

THANK YOU!
