TAM Docents: Flora Book Training

Hello Docents-

I was able to schedule a training with Flora Book; however, it will not be on either of the dates I asked you to hold. She will be here at 10 am on Tuesday, September 27. I hope that you can make it. It will be informal and a chance for your to ask questions of her, as well as, the opportunity for her to tell stories about her artwork. Feel free to come loaded with questions!

Thank you,

-Jana

TAM Docents: Book Suggestions for Mexican Folk Art

Hello Docents-

Stephanie has provided me with a list of possible books to learn more about Mexican Folk Art for the upcoming exhibition Folk Treasures of Mexico: The Nelson A. Rockefeller Collection From the San Antonio Museum of Art. I made notes on the highlighted selections so that you will know what will be made available. I also purchased a book, The Crafts of Mexico for the ARC that looks like it will be useful. A copy of the exhibition catalog will be available at the docent desk by next week as it shipped today.

Along the same lines, I will also have a copy of the Hide/Seek catalog at the docent desk for you to start reading. I’d hoped to be able to make a copy of the essay but the book would require a full copying to get you everything so I figured I’d just make it available instead! It is a very interesting read.

Thank you for all that you do for Tacoma Art Museum!

-Jana
