docents needed for event on 7/21

Hi All,

On Wednesday, July 21, we are hosting an open house for event planners/concierges in the area. This is an important way for the museum to introduce our facilities to the professionals in the region who organize meetings and conferences.

We are looking for two or three docents who could give tours of the museum to people in this group on Wednesday, July 21, from
7:45 to 8:30 (the event starts at 5:30; the tour is scheduled at the end of the evening). There will be about 75 people, so we’d like to divide them into two or three groups to see the museum.

Please let me know if you’re available.

Thanks

Tara

Who's who ? ... Or We have a Docents Gallery

So, do you confuse Penny Grellier with Penny Hulse? So, is that Biz or
is that the Marisa? Who's Holly and who's Heidi and who's Sue?

Well, you can look everyone up on this web page and match the names
you know with the faces and vice versa.

(anyone missing ? let me know.)

Direction: Take Highway 16 across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge - traveling towards Bremerton. Once across the Narrows Bridge take the City Center/Fox Island Exit - (this is the third overpass). At the end of the exit ramp turn left and go over highway 16. You will remain on this road for approximately 6.5 miles. The road will wonder around making several 45-degree turns. It begins as Wollochet, turns into 40th and after approximately 6 miles turns left and becomes 92nd. Do not take any turn that requires a turn lane or your blinker until you pass the road sign that says 92nd. Once you make the natural left turn that becomes 92nd - take the first right onto 36th. This right turn is a "Y" of of 92nd. One block later turn right at the 4-way stop onto Ray Nash Drive. On your left you will see a small grocery store called "Arletta". My house is the 5th house on the left. The house is forest green with white trim, I have a white picket fence and the driveway circles behind the house. Enter the first driveway...before the picket fence begins. If you miss that, I have a neighbor on the right side of the roadway that will allow us to park in his front grass field. My Fire Department Van will be parked in that yard to let you know which one. Just pass by my house and you will see it on the right.

My home phone number is 253-265-6087.

July training

Dear Docents,

I wanted to send you an update about training in July.

For the July 7/July 12 training, we have two agenda items:

1. We will be discussing docent evaluations, which will be taking place in August. We will look at examples of docent evaluations from other museums, and discuss how the process can be most useful for you.

2. We will have an introduction to a brand-new project called FAQ, being installed today in the Davis gallery.

On July 14, our four new docents will be presenting their graduation projects. If you’re free, please come to be their audience!

On July 28 at 5:30 p.m. will be the graduation party at Penny Hulse’s home. Stay tuned for potluck sign-up and driving directions from our Special Events committee.

We will then take a break from training for most of August, resuming the last Wednesday in August.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks

disability awareness training

Dear Docents,

If you weren’t able to attend the disability awareness training last Wednesday/yesterday, please stop by the volunteer desk the next time you’re in to pick up a handout packet. The packet includes several resources that I’d like you all to have.

Thanks

Tara
