Subject: Resources for Carving a Legacy

We’ve mounted a display for Carving a Legacy in the ARC.  Many

of our Native American art titles are broad in scope, but we have

some NW Coastal titles, including:

Native Visions:  Evolution of NW Coast Art from the 18th

Through the 20th Century (UWa & SAM)

Box of Daylight: NW Coast Indian Art

AND a few Coast Salish titles:

Susan Point: Coast Salish Artist.

Contemporary Coast Salish Art (due for publication by UWa

in May) is not out yet, but we’ll have it on display as soon

as it is available.

We expect to soon be putting out information about individual artists &

have our ARC “Exhibition Resources” web page updated with “Carving” info.

Subject: Carving a Legacy info

All,

We were informed yesterday that the primary book for the Carving a Legacy exhibit, Contemporary Coast Salish Art: Awakenings, A Gathering of Coast Salish Artists has been delayed in publication from UWPress.  A scheduled May 1 release has been pushed to August 1.  While it is not an actual catalogue for this exhibit, it is the first widely anticipated publication on this topic. No specific reasons for this delay have been explained.

Rock and I have spoken with the Directors of Marketing and Publications who are well aware of our exhibit and have put us on a priority list for preview copies.  They cannot supply an exact date for when preview copies will be made available.  The book is printing in China and is anticipated to ship by July 1, hitting Port of Seattle Customs @ August 1 and released for distribution by August 10.  All dates are estimates only.

Please disburse this information to staff and docents.  Media requests for copies will have to be delayed until preview copies are made available.  UWPress is uncertain at this point how many preview copies will be made available to us.

Should any of this information change, I will let you know immediately.

Thanks,

Nancy

Hi again,

Here’s a docent contact list with the missing docents filled in. It’s also in a different format, so hopefully more of you can open it. Let me know if you need me to change anything else on it.

New Docent Contact List

Hi Docents,

There are a few missing names on the list I just sent out.  Use that list for now while I go through the 4 databases and figure out why they’re not linking up.  I will work on a new improved list as soon as I can.
