Docent Calendar Calendar

Hello Docents!
Please let me know if you are missing from the schedule, would like to switch days, or are on the schedule but shouldn’t be. If you haven’t been getting the docent updates regarding training and the training documents email me so I can get those out to you!
Thanks!

Docent Training Schedule July - September

Hello Docents!

Thank you for all who could make it to training this morning. Please don’t fret if you couldn’t make the lecture this morning. The lecture was recorded and the video should be available on YouTube sometime next week. I’ll send the link when I get it! Please let me know if you are willing to share your notes from today’s training. I did take notes and can share those with the group, as well. Attached to this email are the Docent Training Program Schedule and the Agenda from today’s meetings. Remember to use the resources listed on the agenda when you’re doing your independent study!

We had a great discussion about what to expect from a tour. You should have at least 14 days notice along with group size and what they expect to see. It was mentioned that I make a phone call to confirm a tour rather than just relying on email. Please let me know if you prefer to get calls – I will always send an email. In regards to training, I will schedule more group discussions; I’m getting those scheduled in Fall/Winter Docent Schedule. If you have a topic that you want to learn about or have a group discussion over, please let me know. An additional Docent training will be offered on the second Saturday of every month starting in September. Please refer to the schedule since there might be additional trainings. Hopefully sometime this late fall or winter the curatorial department will attend a docent training. Get your questions ready and be prepared to interrogate the department with all the questions you’ve been saving up over the years.

If you would like to be trained to work in the OAS or ARC, let me know and I’ll schedule an orientation. I know it gets annoying when it’s slow in the museum and there’s nobody else to talk to about the art. In those cases if you were prefer to stay and help out around the museum either in Admin, the OAS, or the ARC that’s totally acceptable. I can get you trained in any area that you want!

Our next training is next Wednesday, August 7th at 10:30 am and includes a walkthrough of Sitting for History. Hope to see you all there!

Thanks!
