TAM Docents: Nov. 3 TAM visit to WSHM & other news

Hello Docents-

I wanted to direct your attention t the change in meeting spots indicated below for the History Museum training on November 3rd.

Also, I wanted to make a correction on today’s talk…the 5 languages represented on the title wall (and that will be represented in multilingual labels) are Cambodian, Russian, Vietnamese, Spanish, and Korean. The text panel on the wall states this.

Thank you for all that you do for Tacoma Art Museum!! Get many pictures taken of yourselves in Mighty Tacoma – the lighting is good!

TAM Docents History lab

November 3, 2010

10:30-12:30

We are looking forward to having our docents participate in the joys of museum edutainment learning in our History Lab Learning Center on November 3, 2010.

We'll meet you in the Grand Lobby at the History Museum no later than 10:30 a.m. I'll bring you to our education department to have an opportunity to shed coats, drop off lunches, meet volunteers, and have a cup a Joe.  We'll then head up to the 5th floor History Lab where we'll spend ~ 1 1/2 hours in the Lab.  For anyone who's interested, we'll enjoy a bag lunch in our boardroom following the Lab experience.   We’ll provide refreshments.

Bring your lunch, energy, and inner child.  Our History Lab is an exciting place to play and learn - for all ages!  We look forward to your visit.  Please let me know approximately how many docents you will bring.  We can accommodate up to 35 comfortably.

Best,

Magda

Group Tour: Friday October 29, 2010, 11:15 am to 12:15 am

Hello Docents,

I thought I might try again and see if anyone one would be interested in this opportunity. I know this is very soon after the opening and training, but we would love your help.

Would anyone be willing to help out and give a Mighty Tacoma tour on Friday, October 29th at 11:15 am? This group is a student group from TCC of about 20 – 30. They are studying American culture and local culture. They are so excited to come see Mighty Tacoma. You would also be able to fill the time with our Dia de los Muertos installation, as this group is interested in this installation as well.

Thank you,

Megan

Hello Docents-

I have only heard the sound of crickets after sending this email so I am hoping that you have all just been too busy to check your emails over the weekend but, seeing that I have sent 2 emails, now you understand the seriousness of this request and I will be overwhelmed with help in no time. Maybe?

Thank you!!

Jana,
I am sorry to say, though, that I think I cannot tour this Thursday, the 28th, for the Dia de los Muertos tour, 11:00am - noon, for Lynnwood Senior Center.  I was fully planning to, but I stepped wrong out of my car yesterday doing errands, prior to the Gala, and by the time the dancing started, we had to leave, as my ankle was hurting quite painfully :(
So, I feel I should cut back on my activities this week, to allow for healing.
I've attached my notes for the tour, and hopefully you will be able to find someone else to do the tour this Thurs. I believe Katrina is scheduled to docent that same shift.
Debora
