TAM docents: training reminder 1/23
Hello, docents:
I just wanted to remind you about our training next Wednesday. I’ve already heard from a couple of you about how this rotation of Kenna’s work seems to be particularly drawing people in, and this should be a helpful and meaningful discussion to help us all think a little more about how to help visitors approach and process these images.

Docent training: Guiding visitors through Michael Kenna’s concentration camp photographs
Rabbi Bruce Kadden of Temple Beth El, along with his wife Barbara, a nationally known Jewish educator, will join us to discuss this stark, emotional imagery in the new Kenna rotation, and to share their experience in recent travels to concentration camps in Poland (Auschwitz, Birkenau, and Maidanek) and the Czech Republic (Terezin). We will also welcome you all to share your own relevant experiences and any questions or thoughts on approaching this art with visitors.
I have been to Terezin as well, and am going to see if I can dig up any of my (pre-digital) photos. Please feel free to bring in some of your own to share, if you have visited any camps. And bring along your notes and thoughts from Kenna’s wonderful presentation this weekend, too, for those who attended it!
If you feel like you would be willing to miss part of this training, I am still looking for someone to lead the following tour that unfortunately coincides with it, timing-wise. You will still be able to catch the first half-hour, and possibly some of the end of the training as well.
Tour Type: Private Warhol tour
# in group: 11
Time: 11am -12 Noon
Contact: Karen Ford 206 547 2499/206 852 2129
Notes: This is a senior group that is receiving horticultural therapy. Very interested in the flower aspect of Warhol. Some have limited mobility so the tour may not be for the whole hour.
Thanks for all you do,
Courtney
