Cecelia Beaux lecture at 6pm on Tuesday, April 3 at the Henry Art Gallery

We recently found out about a Cecelia Beaux lecture at the Henry Art Gallery the first week of April.  Heide and I are discussing organizing a docent field trip via carpool to attend the lecture.

This lecture is of particular interest because of the upcoming exhibition, Cecelia Beaux: American Figure Painter, opening at the Tacoma Art Museum on September 29, 2007.  Margaret and Terry Stent Curator of American Art at the High Museum in Atlanta Sylvia Yount will present the lecture.  Brochures on the lecture are available at Heide and Susan’s desks.

As the lecture is on a Tuesday evening in Seattle, we wanted to first email to find out how many docents would be able to attend.  The lecture is on Tuesday, April 3 beginning at 6pm at the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle.  Due to traffic at that hour, we’d recommend that carpools leave from the Tacoma Art Museum by 4 or 4:30 (even earlier if we want to visit the galleries which close at 5pm).  We estimate returning to the museum at 8 or 8:30pm.

We understand that this opportunity conflicts with the Western Art History Lecture Series which all new docents are required to attend, but as this first lecture is a review of the winter series, I think we can make an exception in this case.  So, in-training docent, please also respond to this email to let me know whether you would be available in the times listed above.

Please respond to this email ASAP.  I’ll email more information by the end of next week after I get a sense of the majority of docent’s availability.

Wishing you a pleasant and sunny weekend,
