docent needed Sunday at 1:30

Dear Docents,

One of our Board members, Susie Russell-Hall, is bringing a group of 5 out-of-town colleagues to the museum on Sunday and we would like to offer the group a docent tour. We don’t have anyone scheduled for Sunday. If anyone is interested in coming in, please let me know. The tour would be at
1:30 and you would only have to stay for that one tour.

Please let me know by tomorrow (8/27) if you’re interested.

Thank you!

PLU group

Hi everyone,

I need a second docent to join Brenda on Saturday, September 4, to tour a large group of PLU students who are here for Freshman Orientation. They will be arriving at 1:30. (A separate group from PLU will be doing a Chihuly tour with Ellen at 2 so it will be busy!).

Thanks

Tara

reminders

Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder that we will resume our fall training this Wednesday, August 25, from 6-8 p.m., or next Monday, August 30, from 10:30-12:30. I do want to reiterate that because of the fast rate of changeovers this fall (ALL the galleries will have new exhibitions within 5 weeks!) that attendance at training is as important as ever. There will be lots to keep us busy! There are extra trainings in September but we will be back to our regular schedule in October.

I also wanted to remind you that if you are interested in the UWT certificate I must have your application and $30 check (made out to University of Washington Tacoma) by Wednesday, August 25 (you can bring it to that evening’s training), as I have to drop it off at the U on Thursday at the latest. They won’t accept any applications after that. I’m glad that many of you are signing up, but remember that it is optional for the returning docents, so it’s up to you whether you want to participate.

Lastly, we are still working with the publisher to get the price down for the textbook, but I should have it in by September 15. The book purchase is optional too but as those of you who have reviewed it have seen, it will be a great reference for us all to have.

See you soon.

Tara

docent log-in

Hi All,

Penny G. left me a note asking if we could have a docent log in created for the computer at the volunteer desk on the Administrative Level of the museum. When I asked Kevin if he could create one, he discovered that one already exists!

The login is docents and the password is ***4***.

Feel free to use this computer when you’re at the museum.

Thanks

Tara
