Mystery to solve

Hello all:
My sister sent me the following message... can anyone clue her in? If so, please post to the blog (so we'll all know the answer) and I will forward it on to her.

Amy and I are trying to figure out a cryptic message on a framed piece of art she purchased a few years ago from an antique shop. It says "Swapped on 9/12/92 A.W.L.S. by" and then there is a name. Does that mean anything in art or museum terms?

Museums Helping Museums: donations for Gulf Coast Museums in lobby

The Tacoma Art Museum has installed a sign and donation box in the lobby, directing people to make donations to support museums affected by Hurricane Katrina. We'll be collecting these donations throughout October (as will the Museum of Glass in its lobby), and will then cut a check for the total amount to the AAM (American Association of Museums) which will distribute the money where it's needed most among the museums in the hardest hit areas.
