Upcoming Docent News
Hello Docents,
This is a reminder that there will be a docent training tomorrow morning from 11:00 am-12:00ish pm. The training will be a workshop over interacting with individual visitors in the galleries.
There is also docent training on Wednesday, October 16th. This training will include two short lectures; one from Margaret Bullock and another from Kim Hereford. It will take place in the classroom on the third floor and is part of the Lunch and Learn series. So, docent training will begin at 10:30 am and we’ll discuss docent “business” (please let me know if you would like me to put something on the agenda) which will be followed by the lectures at 11:00 am. Feel free to bring a snack or lunch to the training on December 16th. The café is preparing a lunch special – you can get half a sandwich with a soup or salad option for $5. Make sure to call around 10:30 am on the day of the lecture to order your meal ahead of time!
The Pruzan exhibition is down. We won’t have anything back up in the Annette B. Weyerhaeuser gallery until November 16th with Shimmering Tree: A Projection by Jennifer Steinkamp. Remember that Austere Beauty: The Art of Z. Vanessa Helder closes on October 20th; which is next weekend. Optic Nerve: The Art of Perception will be up in the Russell gallery on November 2nd and I should have the checklist for that exhibition and text panels’ text in the next week. (Margaret is giving a short overview on Optic Nerve on 10/16 and will give a walkthrough on 11/20.) We will have a docent discussion (where you pick one artist that is represented in an exhibition to discuss with the group) for Optic Nerve, but it’s not on the training schedule until February 8th, 2014. If you would like to have the docent discussion for Optic Nerve sooner than February I could add an extra training in December. Would anybody prefer that option? We could schedule it for December 11th & 14th. Let me know!
Thanks!
