Dear Docents,

I really need your help on this one. Cameron (Deputy Director of Tacoma Art Museum) would really like to have 2 docents cover the following last minute Norman Rockwell tour on March 2nd, from 10:30 am from 12:30 pm, so much so that he will buy you a lunch at the café.

Tour Type:                  Rockwell Group Tour DAYTIME

Tour Contact:              Vanessa

Organization:               Discovery Tours

Date & Time:               March 2nd, 2011 @ 10:30 AM

Guest Count:               54

Don’t worry, Jana will forgive you for missing the docent training on this day (Because Cameron told her to J). The big wigs here will know that you have really helped us out with this one. They will even double your salary!

Please help us out with this last minute tour and get a free lunch while you are at it (who says there is no such thing as a free lunch). You will be a hero.

Thank you in advance!

Regards,

Megan

RE: TAM Docents: Tour Change Information

We will find out for sure at the March 2 training. I am still waiting to see myself. I believe they will have to pay for the audio guide at the desk, take a voucher up to the start of the exhibition (Boeing/Weyerhaeuser), and then return them at the end (Russell).

Hello Docents-
I wanted to respond to Sanjeev's question below for all of you since you
may be wondering the same thing. The vision is that visitors will be
entering Rockwell at one point and exiting at another. Part of the
motivation for this will be the retrieval of checked out audio guides.
When you lead Rockwell tours, if you notice that the entrance point
(Boeing/ Weyerhaeuser) is backed up, you may choose to begin your tour
up in the Russell Gallery with the Saturday Evening Posts, which is an
encouraged approach. So groups will have a bit more flexibility
(provided they are being led by a docent) but all others will have
prescribed entrance/exit points.

Does that mean Rockwell will have one entrance only ??

Enter Chihuly --> Rockwell ?
Mighty Tacoma --> Rockwell ?

TAM Docents: Tour Change Information

Hello Docents-

During the run of Rockwell, we need to change the way we do our Museum Highlights tours where those galleries are concerned. When introducing Rockwell, I will ask that you stand outside of the galleries (just the Rockwell) during your overview then move on to the next gallery, encouraging participants to return and view the exhibition at their leisure. If the gallery is busy, there will be a line to get in. Unless they are on a Rockwell tour specifically, all visitors will need to stand in that line to enter the exhibition.

I would like to encourage you to let me know how tours are going, general flow of the galleries, impressions of how the changes we have made are working from your perspective so that I may share any triumphs and concerns with the folks who are making the policies.

Thank you all for your generous gift of time and your thoughts!

TAM Docents: Saturday's Training Update

Hello Docents-

As this Saturday’s lecture by Laurie Norton Moffatt is likely to be over full, I am cancelling it as a required docent training and redirecting you to the lecture by Margaret on March 2nd, which was already a required training. If you choose to come to Saturday’s lecture, you will need to do so as a member or non-member (paid) at this time. Sorry I am unable to accommodate all of you for that!
