TAM: required training on March 12 / 14

For the mandatory glass training on March 12 or 14, please bring any un-answered questions that you have about:

  • glass
  • Tacoma Art Museum’s permanent collection of Chihuly glass
  • Dale Chihuly
  • Chihuly glass around downtown Tacoma

Also, please let me know if there are any areas within the above topics that you would especially like to learn more about.

OR

If there are recurring questions that you already get asked about glass, Dale Chihuly, etc, please let me know what they are so that we can make sure everyone knows the answers.

Our goal is that after this training, you will feel comfortable touring all of the above topics. We sometimes have a high demand for Chihuly Walking Tours that our specialized Chihuly Walking Tour docents cannot meet. Hopefully, this training will make you comfortable doing a Chihuly Walking Tour, in the rare event that we ask you to do so (and if you are comfortable with the walking that is involved).

Thanks for your time!

TAM URGENT TOUR: Saturday, March 3 at 12:30 pm

I am still looking for one docent to help out with a group on Saturday, March 3, to help with a tour at 12:30 pm (ending at approximately 2:30). Sid Cloud and Roxanne Peterson will both be docenting on that day also.

This tour will be very easy.  The 12:30 pm tour is for a group of 120 Japanese ESL students. This school brings a group to Tacoma Art Museum every year, and they split the 120 students into smaller groups of 30 that rotate through Tacoma Art Museum, Museum of Glass and Washington State History Museum. There will be two other docents, Sid Cloud and Roxanne Peterson, with this group. The group tends to speak very little English, so only the most basic information about Tacoma Art Museum can be relayed – info such as about Dale Chihuly, the basic premise of each exhibition, perhaps basic information about the architecture, about Frida Kahlo, etc. Each group will also spend time in the Open Art Studio – you can end your tour by leading them to the Open Art Studio.

Please reply only if you are available, and I will confirm whether or not you are needed.

Thanks for your time!
