Hi,
This is just an email to let all of you know, officially, that I am your new Docent Coordinator. I am taking over most of Shannon’s responsibilities with the docent group, such as scheduling your shifts and training, arranging substitutes, letting you know of resources and other opportunities, etc. And I will also be doing some work with school tours at the museum.
Most of the email you will be getting in the future will come from me, and any questions or concerns that you have should be directed to me – either at my email HLlamazares@tacomaartmuseum.org (which I prefer) or at my TAM phone number 253-272-4258 which is where it gets a little tricky – extension 3016 (Shannon’s desk) up to and including Sept. 2; extension 3014 after Sept. 2. My TAM hours are Tuesday to Friday, 9 am to 2 pm for now, but will likely be increasing in January. I also want to point out that you will still be receiving some email from Jana Wennstrom, about general museum events that require volunteers.
As you know from last week’s meeting, some aspects of the docent program will be changing and getting even better starting in September. I am very excited about these changes, and I have a lot of ideas of my own too. Over the next two or three weeks, I am also going to try to visit each of you during your docent shift so that we can meet in person and have a little chat. (Ok, maybe not those of you who docent on the weekend, sorry!)
Another thing that will be coming up, is that Carri and I will be arranging a short meeting with each of you before or after your normal docent shift. (Again, unless you docent on the weekend, in which case we’ll work with you to arrange another time.) We want to hear your ideas and concerns, and what things you would like to see happen with the docents. And you’ll be getting an email from me about that soon!
