TAM Docents: Notebook Found

Hello Docents-

A blue notebook was found that appears to have docent type notes in it. If it is yours, I have it on my desk so feel free to come by and nab it. Not really sure where my desk is? No problem, just ask any staff person on the Administrative level and they should be able to help you navigate your way there.

I will be out of the office July 16 – 26 so please direct your inquires to Megan Ristine at 253.272.4258 x3026 or MRistine@TacomaArtMuseum.org. We finally get good weather and now I head off to Hawaii. Timing.

Have a great week!

TAM Docents: 2011 TAM Docent Eval for self and peer assessment

Hello Docents-

Attached is a copy of the revised peer and self-evaluation form. I have removed the check-box format and left it more open, as requested. Please take a look and offer your feedback. Based on feedback I receive from all of you, I will work with Courtney and come up with a final version for our 2011 evaluations. Please let me know if you have any problem with opening or reading this document as I can resend it as a PDF to those that need it.

Thank you,

-Jana

TAM Docents: Vicki Adams Studio Visit

Hello Docents and VS Specialists-

You get first dibs on an opportunity to visit Victoria Adams studio at 10:30 am on Vashon Island on Tuesday, August 17. There will be some expense involved for those that choose to participate as the cost of the ferry to Vashon is not covered by the museum. I am hoping that we can carpool as much as possible to keep the cost down. What I need from each of you is an RSVP if you want to go (and I need you to mean it). I will also need to know

1)    Do you want to stay for a lunch afterwards? You can catch a ferry at either 12:10 pm (if you don’t stay for lunch) or at 2:15 pm.

2)    Are you will willing to take passengers in your car for the trip over to Vashon and one of the departing times above?

I will need your confirmed RSVP by July 30 as I will open the opportunity to all volunteers after that time. Space is limited to 20. Vicki Adams will be doing a demo in addition to letting us visit her studio so this should be a lot of fun. For those that RSVP for lunch, I will be researching restaurants that are open on Tuesdays , as I understand our choices will be limited, and I will make a reservation at the one that can accommodate a crowd. We may get one choice so no picky eaters should RSVP for lunch! I have posted the prices for the ferry below and, if I read it correctly, the cost for a car with 4 passengers should be $32.35 per vehicle, assuming none of you are seniors, meaning the cost per person should be no more than about $8 per person for a full vehicle.

Passenger

Adult (age 19 - 64)                                             $4.45

Senior / Disabled (age 65 & over)                        $2.20

Youth (age 6 - 18)                                              $3.60

WSF Monthly Pass 31 Ride *                                 $57.00

Bicycle Surcharge Only                                        $1.00

Vehicle Under 20', Motorcycle, and Stowage

Vehicle Under 20' & Driver                                  $19.00

Vehicle Under 20' & Senior/Disabled Driver           $16.75

Over 7'6 in. Height Surcharge                              $19.00

Motorcycle & Driver                                            $8.25

Motorcycle & Senior/Disabled Driver                     $6.00

Motorcycle Trailer/Sidecar/3+ Wheels Surcharge  $3.80

You guys are awesome!

TAM Docents: city walking tour notes

Hello docents-

Debora Kernan joined in one of last week’s workshops and she has been so gracious as to share her new found knowledge with all of us. Attached are some notes she took on a Tacoma tour with Michael Sullivan. The contents may come in handy for Chihuly tours or Tacoma related questions.

Enjoy!

Subject: city walking tour notes

Courtney,
I'm hoping I have your email correctly.  I have attached the notes I was furiously writing down during Michael Sullivan's historical architecture city walking tour, July 9th. These are directly from my notepad, and you may want to cross-check any details you have questions about. Josh was along for the entire tour also, I believe. I think a perspective on the city revitalization will enhance the Chihuly walking tours. I throughly enjoyed Michael's tour. I did ask him if he would be able to provide a reference list from his teaching on the subject, and he indicated he would be able to pass that on to you. I'd be very interested in seeing that. I thought Jana might want to pass this along to all the docents to use with the Chihuly walking tours.

Enjoy,
Debora Kernan
