TAM Docents: Reeking of desperation but you can help!

Hello Docents-

Who is reeking of desperation, you ask? I am! I have 3 tours scheduled for Saturday, March 20 and no docents. Normally this would just mean I come in that day and do it myself; however, I have a Tacoma Arts Commission retreat this day (and I am the new girl so I don’t want to look bad by not showing up for the retreat!) I need 2 docents and I am ready to wheel and deal (Please make offers) to get these tours scheduled. I know this is an early commitment for some of you but the desperation is coming off me in waves here – help me break the cycle.

Apparently questions about the Lindberg family have been fairly common at the front desk lately, so it might be useful for docents and school tour educators to be aware of this, too.

The Lindberg Collection

More than forty paintings and drawings from the estate of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hilding Lindberg were bequeathed to Tacoma Art Museum in 1983. The Lindberg Collection is comprised primarily of French and German paintings from the second half of the nineteenth century. It includes landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, portraits, and genre scenes by such notable artists as Eugène Louis Boudin, Edgar Hilaire Degas, Henri Fantin-Latour, Camille Pissarro, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Adolf Schreyer, and Karl Spitzweg. Among these are visitor favorites such as Renoir’s oil painting Heads of Two Young Girls (also known as The Two Sisters ), and Degas’ Dancers, a fan-shaped painting on silk. In 1995, the museum acquired two of Degas’ bronze sculptures of dancers because of their relationship to this painting.

Jana,

I was surfing the net looking for info on Deborah Butterfield and I found this great gallery site that shows pics of her on her ranch in Bozeman MT with her horses and showing how she sorts pieces to make the horses. As well as a whole line of her horse sculptures.

So I copied the link and am sending it to you. I'm not very good at this so I hope this works.
