TAM URGENT: Docent Needed for Tour: Thursday, February 1 at 11 am, St. Vincent de Paul Church in Federal Way

Can anyone do a tour on Thursday, February 1 at 11 am?

The tour is for a group of 40 or more seniors and adults from St. Vincent de Paul Church in Federal Way.

Pat Walker is scheduled to docent on that day, but I would like to find a second docent for the tour so that it can be split into two smaller groups.

Please reply only if you are available, and I will confirm whether or not you are needed.

Thanks for your time!

TAM: Chihuly Walking Tour requires ID

FYI: All groups that book a Chihuly Walking Tour are always informed that valid ID such as a driver’s license or passport is required to enter Union Station. I have double-checked with Kathy who schedules Chihuly Walking Tours, and she confirmed that she does send this info to all tour groups with their confirmation. I know that some of you regularly see groups that claim not to know they needed ID, and I would say that we make every effort to tell them about this. The problem may be that the tour organizer is not necessarily the same person who takes the tour, but we make it clear that it is their responsibility to pass on the info about ID. It is also posted on our website with information about Chihuly Walking Tours, in bold text.

I know that this issue can be uncomfortable for you as the tour guide, and this is just to let you know that we do tell all tour groups, in writing and verbally, that ID is required to enter Union Station.

Thanks for your time!

TAM: Meet Aminah at the Tacoma Art Museum on Jan. 26

Please find below information on an opportunity to meet Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson at the Tacoma Art Museum.  Please consider yourself invited, and RSVP to me at hllamazares@tacomaartmuseum.org if you plan to attend. This event is for some local middle, high school and college students but we are also inviting docents. The best reason to attend (in my opinion) is that Aminah will probably play some of the music boxes in her work.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 26, 4 PM

You are invited to meet the artist Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson

Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson, from Columbus Ohio, is the featured artist in Tacoma Art Museum’s current exhibition Symphonic Poem (http://www.tacomaartmuseum.org/page.asp?view=5924).   Her mixed-media paintings, drawings, sculptures, and cloth murals depict themes of social change, spirituality, courage, humanity, and family.  We hope that you will join us to for this presentation with the artist Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson.

Recommended Paul Strand Reading:

Here are some links to a good website with lots of short articles (less than 2 pages) about New Mexico, artist colonies, etc.

These articles will also be in the docent binder.

TAM: URGENT Docent Needed: Sunday, January 28

Can anyone do a docent shift (or trade a shift) on Sunday, January 28?

This shift does include tours at 1 and 3 pm, as advertised.

There is no other docent scheduled on this day, and it is the last day of the Aminah exhibition and a FREE community celebration so it is especially important that we have a docent. Last weekend, the last for Eric Carle, saw record highs in attendance with over 600 visitors on Saturday!

Please reply only if you are available, and I will confirm whether or not you are needed.

Thanks for your time!
