Hello docents:

Hope you are all going to enjoy some time with friends and family this week! I have a short laundry list of things for you today:

·         First, as you might have noticed, the Curatorial team rotated some new paintings into Best of the Northwest last week. If you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, please check it out next time you’re in—they are great! Attached are the labels for the 10 new pieces.

·         Second, I am sorry I missed you at Amy’s training last week. 24-hour bugs are not fun. (It is definitely that time of year—I know we’ve had a couple of you down for the count for a little while as well. Please take care of yourselves!) It sounds like you had a good time and I am glad you got to go into the galleries with her as well. For those who were not able to attend either Amy’s public lecture or her training for us, a video will be available soon on our YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=UUOuk1_zjwMepRNGS46G2Ltw&feature=plcp). Or if you need to view it ASAP, Communications has made a private, password-protected copy of the non-edited version available to us on another website, so just check in with me and I’ll pass along the info to you.

·         For the full, well-rounded view of Warhol, remember that Rock is doing a training for us this coming Thursday the 28th at a different time and place: 11 am in the 3rd-floor classroom.

·         And last but not least:

Since Andy Warhol’s Flowers for Tacoma is our high-profile show for this season, we’ve been talking about what else we can do to raise its profile and to provide additional opportunities for people to learn about the exhibition. The museum would like to offer, as we’ve done a couple times in the past, a scheduled list of available tour times that individuals and small groups can purchase tickets to even if they don’t have enough people for a private group tour. I know this offering has had mixed results in the past (worked well for Rockwell, not so much for others), but I am trying to make it as easy for you as possible by offering times that you will be here for shifts, anyway. If we do not have any tour takers on a particular day at least you didn’t have to make any changes in your plans, and if we do have takers, you get a little extra excitement and engagement on your shift. The only thing it does mean is that I need to make sure you will be here for these tour times, in case we do have a group.

I looked at the schedule for the next 3 months, through the end of the Warhol run, and came up with these tour time offerings based on your shifts. Please take a look and email back, confirming for me if you will be available or if you have any questions.
