Docent Calendar & Training
Hello fabulous docents:
Welcome to October, one of our busiest months here at the museum! At the bottom of this email is the updated shift calendar for the next 30 days. Please let me know if you are able to fill any of the open shifts (highlighted).
I am also hoping one of you might be interested and available to cover this tour, coming up next week:

Please let me know as soon as possible if you can lead this tour group.
Finally, docent training: although I am now trying to schedule trainings regularly on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month, there are neither impending exhibitions opening nor curators/other experts available, so you are free next Wednesday the 10th, despite previous statements to the contrary. Enjoy your morning!
However, I am planning a fun, hands-on, art-making training for you on Wednesday the 24th, at the regular 10:30 am time. This workshop training will be held in the Open Art Studio, and we will be making mini-tapetes (sand paintings) using the same materials and techniques used by our wonderful tapete artist, Fulgencio Lazo, each Day of the Dead. We’ll also be talking about Dia de los Muertos and looking at the altars and tapete that will have just gone on display.
Following that, all volunteers are invited to a potluck lunch, and I hope you’ll be able to stay and attend that as well. Here are the details from Megan:
It is time to SOCIALIZE! We are going to have a Volunteer Potluck in the Event Space on Wednesday, October 24th at noon and you are all invited along with the TAM Staff!
What should you bring? I’ve broken down some suggestions below but it’s a potluck so bring what you like! The ED Dept will provide eating paraphernalia and some beverages.
If your last name starts with
A – D bring a main dish
E – I bring a side dish
J – P bring a salad
Q – Z bring dessert
If you plan to come, please RSVP to Megan so that there are plenty of dishes and chairs!
