TAM Docents: Please, please help and, if you live in N Tacoma, you hardly have to drive!

Hello Docents-

I am trying for the third time to get coverage for this off-site “tour” using a PowerPoint. This is a rally great opportunity for a new docent too, so don’t be shy. Any participant will be instructed by Lisa on how to use the PowerPoint presentation and it will be like giving a tour using slides. Karin Morris did this last time and told me she enjoyed it. She isn’t available for this go-around so I need another docent to give this a try. We are hoping this might become a way to generate more tours, or at least museum visitors. Please help me on this if you can:

We have an exciting opportunity for a docent to go into the community and teach about Tacoma Art Museum and the artwork inside it. Senior University at the Franke Tobey Jones Retirement Estates has requested a docent to give a preview of Edo to Tacoma: Japanese Woodblock Prints from the Collection on Monday, October 11 at 3 pm. It is in preparation for bringing a group of seniors to the museum later on in the month. We will provide you a PowerPoint presentation along with any other support or information you may need. (Senior University will provide all the technical equipment, you will just need to take the thumb-drive with the PowerPoint file on it) The location of the “university” is 5340 N Bristol. Feel free to contact Lisa McKeown with any questions (253.272.4258 x3047, LMcKeown@TacomaArtMuseum.org).

Thank you,

-Jana
