TAM Docents: Training Calendar January - March 2011

Hello Docents (and VS Specialists)-

Attached is the Winter/Spring Docent Training Calendar which I have copied dates and descriptions for below. I wanted you to get these on your calendars as soon as possible. I will send this our again in December (a gentle reminder form any of you wouldn’t hurt).

 

Highly Recommended	Thursday, January 6, 11:30 am - 12:30 pm	Bring a brown bag lunch to the Event Space and hear lectures about Tacoma from local historians.
Required Training	Wednesday, January 12, 10:30 - 11:30 am	Japanese History in Tacoma lecture by Gwen Perkins from the WSHM.
For Fun!!	Saturday, January 22, 3 - 4 pm	Join Silk Strings, a duo fluent in a wide range of music from traditional to contemporary, as they perform on koto and other Japanese instruments in conjunction with the exhibition Edo to Tacoma: Japanese Woodblock Prints from the Collection. Cost: $15, $10 for members, and $5 for students.
Required Training for New Docents	Wednesday, January 26, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm	Learn more about the Tacoma Art Museum building at this training. Current docents are welcome to come for review.
For Fun!!	Saturday, January 30, All Day	Coastal Native Celebration - A Free Festival so bring friends, family, and neighbors!
Highly Recommended	Thursday, February 3, 11:30 am - 12:30 pm	Bring a brown bag lunch to the Event Space and hear lectures about Tacoma from local historians.
Required Training for New Docents	Wednesday, February 9, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm	Learn more about Chihuly at this training. Current docents are welcome to come for review.
Required Training	Saturday, February 26, 11:30 am	Rockwell lecture by Laurie Norton Moffatt from the Norman Rockwell Museum (following the member pancake breakfast in the Event Space).
Highly Recommended	Sundays in March  11 am - 12 pm	Know More Art Lecture Series: Visions of America. Docents get the $5 student rate. Register on-line or contact Megan Ristine, Education Assistant, at Education@TacomaArtMuseum.org or 253.722.2455.
Required Training	Wednesday, March 2, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm	Rockwell training with curator Margaret Bullock in Event Space

For Fun!!	Thursday, March 17, 10  am - 8 pm	Book Sale on the Atrium. Art and so much more!
Required Training / Planning	Wednesday, March 23, 11 am – 12 pm	We will do some planning for evals, props for tours, that sort of thing, what kind of training would you like to see coming up? In the Skinner Board Room on Admin level.
