Exhibition Walk-Through: Michelle Dunn Marsh, Director of Aperture West, will discuss the broad range of photographic media Chuck Close incorporates in his work, including daguerreotypes and large-scale digital prints – in the format of a walk-through of Chuck Close especially for the docents.

Chuck Close Workshop

Ellen Ito will lead this workshop by talking about the artists whose portraits are in A Couple of Ways of Doing Something. This will provide a launching point for a group discussion of how Chuck Close’s portraits and Bob Holman’s poems represent the artist-subjects.

Calligraphy workshop and Docent Potluck Lunch

This is a hands-on workshop led by members of the Tacoma Calligraphy Guild where we will learn about and practice doing calligraphy.

And afterwards, we will have an informal potluck lunch together. More details about lunch closer to the date.

Suzanne Moore is a painter and lettering artist whose book works explore the boundaries and links between word and image. She is one of two Americans creating illuminations for the Saint John’s Bible.
