No training this Wednesday

Given that the majority of docents attended this Monday’s training with Mary Lee Bendolph and Nettie Young, I wanted to give the remaining docents another option rather than coming to training this Wednesday.

Since only three docents were planning on attending the Gee’s Bend Workshop this Wednesday, we have cancelled the training and are asking these docents to watch the PBS documentary on Gee’s Bend in their own time instead of coming all the way in for a workshop.  The greatest benefit to the training Monday (and to the public program on Sunday) was hearing the quilters talk about their quiltmaking, history, and community in their own words.  In lieu of that, the second best resource is watching the film.  I’d like to also suggest that you share some of Mary Lee and Nettie’s stories with your fellow docents.

Please also let me there are aspects of the Gee’s Bend tours that you’d like to discuss more and we can include these in the upcoming Cecilia Beaux Touring Workshop.

Thank you for your time.  I’m looking forward to seeing you all next at the Cecilia Beaux Symposium on Sunday, October 14.  Ticket information will be emailed schortly.
