RE: Docent Updates

Hi Docents,

Does anybody have a copy of Still Life with Oysters and Lemon that another docent may borrow and read over the weekend? If so, please email me today or tomorrow.

Thanks!

Hi TAM Docents,

Margaret’s lecture on February 4 is now online for docents to view. To access the website click on the following link: https://vimeo.com/album/3138244. The password is: tamdocent123

This is a reminder that we have a docent training next Wednesday, February 25th at 10:30 am. We will be meeting in the Murdock Classroom for a 30 minute discussion on Still Life with Oysters and Lemon by Mark Doty. (Most docents have sent me a discussion question, please do so before Sunday if you haven’t already!) Then, we’ll head down the Murray Event Space for Asia’s lecture on The New Old West: Opportunities for Inclusion in Western American Art. This lecture will be recorded. I will be in the office for docent training next Wednesday and then I will be out of the office for the following two weeks. As you all know, I will have limited access to email at this time. So, if you have questions or need someone in the education department please contact Samantha. Her email is SKelly@TacomaArtMuseum.org and her extension is 3038.

I will be out of the office during the docent training on March 4 at 11 am. This lecture will be recorded. There will not be a meeting before the lecture. I will see everyone when I’m back in the office and at the docent training on March 25th. If you’ve been reading your training schedule, you’ll notice that docents will be presenting on artists in the Liliane and Christian Haub Gallery on March 25. I will assign an artist to each docent at next week’s meeting.

There is an amazing lecture scheduled tomorrow at 1 pm with Susan Robb. She will be discussing her piece Wild Times that was featured in TAM’s exhibition Northwest in the West. I want to remind everyone that the new exhibition Eloquent Objects: Georgia O’Keeffe and Still-Life Art in New Mexico is opening on Sunday, March 1. There will be an opening party on Saturday, February 28 and we need a handful of volunteers to help out. Please review these shifts on Volgistics and sign up. This will be a very exciting event that you won’t want to miss! Then, Charles Eldredge will discuss his exhibition Eloquent Objects on Saturday, March 14 at 2 pm.

There are a few open shifts for the month of March. Please review the calendar on Volgistics and sign up for these vacant shifts. Remember to remove yourself from volunteer shifts on Volgistics if you need to make some changes to your schedule. Don’t forget to log onto Volgistics throughout the week to review the calendar on Volgistics for additional shifts.

The vacant shifts are listed below:

Tuesday, March 3 from 12-4 pm

Saturday, March 14 from 12-4 pm

Saturday, March 21 from 12-4 pm

Tuesday, March 31 from 12-4 pm

Please email me if you have any questions or concerns about information provided in this email or about volunteering in general.

Thanks and have a great weekend! J
