FW: TAM Docents: Fall Training Calendar & Feddersen Materials

Hello Docents-

Some of the emails I sent out earlier have bounced back as undeliverable because the attachments were too large. I am resending the original email message below with just the training calendar. I will attempt to resend the other attachments: 3 catalog essays from the Vital Signs catalog. If you do not receive the latter, please look for the essays in the Upcoming Exhibitions binder at the docent desk. The ARC also has a copy of the original catalog and catalogs will be available in the store before too long.

Thank you,

-Jana

Hello Docents-

I hope that you are all having a lovely summer and managing to stay cool.

Attached you will find the Training Calendar for fall and all of the essays from the Joe Feddersen catalog Vital Signs. Our first official meeting of the fall is on September 2nd and I will look forward to seeing you all then as we touch base and look at what the next year brings. Please feel free to come with questions, comments, concerns and any training requests you may have since I will start making plans for the winter schedule, as soon as I can, to give you as much notice as possible.

Finally, there is a program coming up on August 23 that I would encourage all of you to attend as it is a great lineup of NW Art Curators and will broaden your knowledge of craft in our area.

4 Curators: Contemporary Craft in Northwest Museums
Sunday, August 23
1–5 pm

What role does contemporary craft play in museums? Several regional museums have made a commitment to exhibiting and collecting works in glass, fiber, wood, clay and metals. Curators from those institutions, Stefano Catalani from Bellevue Arts Museum, Rock Hushka from Tacoma Art Museum, Kathleen Moles from the Museum of Northwest Art in La Conner, and Namita Wiggers from the Museum of Contemporary Craft in Portland, come together to discuss the significance of contemporary craft. Sponsored by the Seattle Metals Guild.
Cost: $15; $10 for Tacoma Art Museum and Seattle Metals Guild members. Advance tickets are available by calling 253.722.2455 or emailing Education@TacomaArtMuseum.org. Includes museum admission. Space is limited.

Thank you for all that you do for Tacoma Art Museum!

-Jana
