Docent Training begins in the first week of September!

Dear Docents,

With three exhibitions opening in September, we are looking forward to a vibrant fall! Training will begin the first week of September with an overview of all three exhibitions and a walkthrough of Veiled Northwest: Photographs by Mary Randlett.  Please see the detailed docent training schedule below.  We hope you have also been studying the exhibition catalogues to prepare yourself for this busy season.

All docents are also asked to attend a special, required training on Monday, September 10 from 9 am-1 pm. This will be the first in a series of trainings on aesthetic development stages presented by the staff of Visual Understanding in Education (VUE). This research based touring method helps museum visitors find meaning in works of visual art through understanding and addressing the needs of each individual’s aesthetic development stage.

Attendance at certain public events is also a part of required docent training this fall. With so many incredible opportunities to attend lectures, meet curators and artists, and take part in hands-on workshops, we’ve reduced the number of exhibition trainings to make room for these special events. Dates and times vary each month; see the calendar below for details.

We are looking forward to an exciting fall and hope you are as well!  Please let Heide or myself know if you have any questions and we look forward to seeing you in September!
