TAM Docents: New docent checklist help

Hello Docents and Staff-

It has come to my attention that we really need a New Docent Checklist for our incoming docents who are not going through the formal training process we’ve had in the past. I would really like all of your feedback, new docents included, on what kinds of materials you think should be covered. Below is my start. I would really appreciate it if you could all look it over and let me know what else might need to be covered in order to get our new docents up to speed.

New Docent Check List

The following items are to give you a bit of guidance on your shadow days in terms of what you might want to have your fellow docents or the Volunteer Manager cover. You are responsible for making sure that you complete the checklist which will be added to your file.

         Docent Handbook received

         Docent agreement signed

         Docent Desk location

Process for checking out docent materials and knowledge of what items can be checked out

How to check in for tours

Chihuly training and Chihuly Walking Tour Handbook

         Building training

         How to schedule a shift

Process for what to do in the case of an emergency shift cancellation

Thank you,

-Jana
