TAM Docents: Save the Date
Hello Docents-
Next Thursday, July 21, we will have a visit from Jonathan Katz here at Tacoma Art Museum to talk about Hide/Seek. If you are able to come, you are encouraged to do so. I haven’t had the opportunity to get more details from Rock as he is out of the office but I will get that to you next Tuesday. Meanwhile, if you can earmark that time to come, providing you are available, I do not think you will be disappointed!
An introduction to Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture
Thursday, July 28, 1 pm
Join co-curator Dr. Jonathan D. Katz for an introduction to Hide/Seek months before the exhibition comes to Tacoma. Learn about the power of sexual difference in American art in the context of this groundbreaking exhibition, scheduled to open at Tacoma Art Museum on March 17, 2012. Dr. Katz will address such themes as the role of sexual difference in depicting modern America; how major themes in modern art were influenced by social marginalization; and how art reflected society’s evolving and changing attitudes toward sexuality, desire, and romantic attachment.
Space is limited. Registration is required. – DETAILS TO COME
Thank you,
-Jana
