New Exhibits at Kittredge Gallery

Jim Riswold: Mao Home and Garden
Riswold’s predilection to astonish his audience has transferred seamlessly from his previous career in advertising to his art. Word play, satire, and irreverence are central components carried over from his former craft.

For Mao Home and Garden, Riswold appropriates Mao's graphic appeal and polarizing cult status, using him as the central prop. Digital images, printed in widely varied scale, capture smartly juxtaposed objects loaded with rich cultural references and irony.

Lanny DeVuono
Histories and Histrionics is a series of small scale paintings that chronicles the artist’s recent travels to the Kerala province in the southwest corner of India as a Fulbright Scholar.

Lanny Frances Devuono is professor of art at Eastern Washington University and contributing editor to Artweek.

DeVuono and Riswold Gallery Talks are scheduled for Wednesday, March 21, at 4 p.m. in Kittredge Gallery. Kittredge exhibits and artist talks are free and open to the public.
