IMPORTANT TRAINING CHANGES

Please confirm that you received this email (and noted the changes).

This email refers to the training for regular docents, which is optional for new docents and Chihuly docents.

We have decided to postpone next week’s docent training which was scheduled for Tuesday, October 3 in the morning and Wednesday, October 4 in the evening. This decision is based on several things: the history lectures are starting next Tuesday, October 3 and many of you will be here for that, Back to School Night is on Thursday which is a busy and important event for the Education department, and we want to give Susan (the new Carri) a chance to settle into her new position before launching her into the trainings.

The updated training schedule will be as follows:

Please remember that all current docents (not new or Chihuly docents) are required to attend one introduction and one workshop/gallery talk (that is, 2 trainings) for each exhibition.

Telling Stories introduction & Aminah Robinson workshop

§         Rock Hushka will introduce Telling Stories: Highlights from the Permanent Collection in the Event Space (1 hour).

§         We will also do an Aminah workshop in the galleries – this is an opportunity for us to discuss touring strategies, exhibition themes, etc and review how touring is going so far. (We want to offer this type of touring analysis more often in the future, since we usually do training and then never re-visit how touring is working for you.)
