continuing education certificate
Hi Everyone,
(This is also posted to the blog—twice! Sorry for the repetition but I wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to respond.) We are working with the University of Washington Tacoma’s Professional Development Center to offer a noncredit certificate through UWT for the docent training program. I wanted to get some sense of whether this appeals to people. The way it would work would be that you would register through UWT and pay a $30 fee. At the end of the program the museum would certify to the University that you finished the required number of hours, and you would then receive the certificate. We could potentially offer two separate certificates, one for docents-in-training and one for active docents.
We would like to have this in place for September. Please let me know what you think—is this something you would have been interested in when you were a new docent, or that you would be interested in as a continuing docent? What would you think about making the certificate mandatory for new docents?
I would love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks
