Special Events Committee

Dear Docents,

 

As you may have heard some rumblings about, we are looking to start a small committee of docents who are interested in planning and administering special events, extracurricular learning opportunities, and social outings. This committee would help to organize trips like the Portland Art Museum trip this Saturday, social events like our summer potluck, and other learning opportunities like the book club we discussed yesterday at training.

 

Many of you have indicated that you would like a chance to incorporate some of these less formal events and get-togethers into the program. In the past year, since we have been working so hard to increase our docent coverage and to get used to the building, and because I was new to my position, we haven’t had much time for this kind of extracurricular activity. However, I think now is a great time to implement it now that we’ve been in the building for a year.

I am looking for about 5 people who would be interested in forming this committee. The committee would be responsible for coming up with ideas and for implementing them. I will of course be here for guidance, but since these activities will be designed to make the program more enjoyable for you, it will work best if the ideas come from within the group.
